10 Small Business Blogs You Should Be Following – Part 1

If you’re a small business owner, you likely wear many hats – CEO, marketer, social media maven, IT guy, and so on. It can be hard to keep up with all you have going on – fortunately, there are blogs aimed at small business owners and entrepreneurs that can help you stay on top on of things. There are hundreds – if not thousands – of such blogs available on the web, but which ones are worthy of your precious time? Here, in no particular order, are our picks for small business blogs you should be following.

Small Business Trends

Established in 2003 by Anita Campbell, Small Business Trends is one of the most popular sites devoted to small business on the web. It offers the latest news affecting small business, as well as articles on management, marketing and sales, finance, and technology. Other resources available on the site include business templates, free magazine subscriptions and white papers, and a franchise guide.

Chamber of Commerce Blog

The Chamber of Commerce blog offers a wide array of articles on topics such as marketing, finance, legal, sales, politics, Internet, and technology. In addition to the blog, the CoC website contains many other small business resources, as well, including a searchable business directory, a CoC directory, and a Business Toolbox with solutions that will help you grow and manage your small business.

Boston.com Small Business Blog

Written by Jason Keith, the Boston.com Small Business Blog offers news, advice, and tips for small business owners across the U.S., not just in New England. Keith has worked for and with small businesses in the Northeast for more than a decade, and covers a diverse array of topics, from  small business smartphone apps to “mommy blogging.”

Young Entrepreneur

Founded in 1999 and headed by Diana Ransom as editor, Young Entrepreneur features information and advice aimed squarely at – what else – young business owners. With a hip look and feel, the website covers traditional business topics such as marketing, public relations, and social media, along with articles a little more outside-the-box, such as its recent series on co-working spaces. Readers can also interact with other young entrepreneurs through the online forums.

Intuit Small Business Blog

Run by the maker of Quickbooks and other small business products and services, the Intuit Small Business Blog features articles on managing money, marketing, employees, social media, technology, and other topics of interest to today’s small business owner. Readers can also join the Intuit Small Business Inner Circle, which offers perks such as attending exclusive events, getting the inside scoop on announcements before the general public does, and being able to work alongside Intuit’s product teams on new features and offerings.
