Social Media Management Tool Review: SproutSocial
If you’re looking for an easy-to-use social media management tool to help you stay on top of your business’s social media activity, SproutSocial is one you should consider. This tool allows you to reach and engage with your audience through Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, all through a user-friendly interface. Here are a few key features of Sprout Social that will help your business more easily manage its social media channels.
With the Smart Inbox feature, messages from your social media channels can be managed all in one place. You can also filter your messages based on account, group, source, or message type. Got a question from a customer? You can assign such messages to team members as tasks, helping to ensure that your customers’ inquiries and requests are being taken care of in a timely manner.
With the Feeds tab you’re able to easily view your Twitter and LinkedIn feeds (for some reason it doesn’t show your Facebook newsfeed). You can reply to your tweets, as well as create tasks from feed items (similar to the task feature in the Smart Inbox). You can also connect with Google Reader, though this feature will need to be updated given Google Reader’s scheduled demise later this year.
SproutSocial makes it easy to post to your Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts. You can schedule your updates or save them as drafts for later review. You can also add your updates to the Sprout Queue, a scheduling tool that functions much like Buffer, in that it allows you to queue content for automatic delivery at predetermined times.
Analytics and Reports
Creating social media analytics and reports is where SproutSocial really shines. On the home page you’ll be greeted with an overview of how you’re doing in your connected social media profiles, as well as overall trends and audience demographics. Among the report options available are a group report, which covers multiple profiles, and reports focusing on Facebook and Twitter. Another cool report option is the ability to compare two different Twitter accounts – now you can see what your competitors are up to on Twitter! All the reports available are visually appealing and easy to read at a glance.
The Discovery tool offers suggestions for who to follow on Twitter based on conversations you’ve had or mentions of your business. It also helps you clean up your Twitter list by identifying those who don’t tweet all that much. The Discovery tool also allows you to perform a smart search based on keywords related to your business – it’s a great way to find people to follow who might be interested in what you do.
These are just some of the features available with the SproutSocial social media management tool – we didn’t even get to the mobile apps, browser extension, Google Analytics integration, or any of the many other features. One downside of this tool is that it currently only covers the big 3 social media networks – namely Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. However, the company is working on adding more to the mix in the future.
